Project Description
Morven Construction was the general contractor for intersection and road improvements in the Village of Harrowsmith. This main intersection of six roads including a busy north-south highway to Kingston was reconfigured to an intersection of two roads for safety and improved traffic flow. The project included traffic control, rock excavation for road widening and sewers, new storm sewers, large cast-in place headwall, asphalt milling and new paving, new concrete curbs and sidewalks, realignment of Wilton Road, closure of three streets, and new traffic lights including poles, bases, and trenching. After installing the underground infrastructure, Morven constructed park areas with precast retaining walls, landscaping, and benches in the Village and road widenings for school bus traffic and new parking lot for a local elementary school. Morven worked with the Township of South Frontenac adjusting various aspects of the original design and their execution of the work to suit unforeseen conditions including contaminated soil and buried structures.
