Project Description
Morven Construction was the general contractor for the construction of the Invista Throwing Field at the City of Kingston’s Invista Recreation Centre. The project included the clearing, grubbing and stripping of a vacant piece of land next to a busy recreation centre. The material stripped from the site was sorted for reuse in the field construction. The field included a natural turf soccer field, javelin throw with asphalt paving and synthetic rubber surface, design and installation of field irrigation system, supply and installation of discus/hammer throw cage with concrete pad and practice pads, bleachers, player benches, fencing, bike racks, retaining walls and asphalt pathways. As part of this project, Morven completed a new asphalt parking area and reconstruction of an entrance to the Invista Centre building with skate/hockey bag ramps, steps, and concrete seat walls. Topsoil for the natural field was processed on the project site using native materials and imported sandy loam. Accessibility features were incorporated into all aspects of this project.
